Biofouling of artificial substrates can be a real challenge for the offshore industries, whose underwater equipment and constructions are exposed to the seawater for years. In order to manage biofouling both effectively and carefully it is important to understand what the fouling community dynamics looks like under various circumstances and what factors have the greatest impact on it.

This session will be focused on long-term observations of fouling communities on various artificial structures and surfaces addressing current state of knowledge around the theme and approaches for observational and experimental studies on community dynamics. The session will include key-note presentations, followed by shorter panel presentations and an open discussion.

Session length is 2.5h. Contributions from the audience are welcome, please indicate in the registration form if you are interested in joining a panel with a short presentation or if there are questions that you would like to bring up during the discussion.
